Texas coach Tom Herman has been called into action yet again by the state to help spread the message of COVID-19 awareness as well as prevention to fans and followers. As Gov. Greg Abbott issues new protocols and restrictions amid a spike in key health metrics across Texas, Herman encouraged all Texans to team up in the effort to slow the spread with mask-wearing, social distancing and, if possible, staying at home.

The University of Texas released its own set of campus protocols this week that included expectations for hosting football games in accordance with state, local and Big 12 health guidelines, but those specifics for football and other sports have not yet been announced. Students and faculty will be required to wear cloth masks "at all times when inside university owned and controlled buildings," except when eating and drinking, or alone in their campus-assigned dorm room or private office.
The Longhorns football team has already returned for voluntary activities and regular COVID-19 testing. On June 18, the school reported 15 positive tests, with 10 more players sent to self-quarantine due to contact tracing and four players who tested positive for the COVID-19 antibody.
